SPOKANE, Wash.
After 17 months of work, the $55 million expansion of the Spokane Convention Center is finally complete. A late February open house attended by hundreds inaugurated the 91,000 additional square feet added to the facility.
The majority of work done on the facility occurred near the shoreline of the adjacent Spokane River. Dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows have opened the Convention Center to spectacular views of the river and surrounding environment.
As part of the overall project, extensive restoration work was done on the riverbank.
The expansion gives the Center a 120,000-square-foot exhibit hall, as well as an additional ballroom and new meeting space for a total of 32 meeting rooms. Most of the new space features either second-level or ground-level views of the river.
