WASHINGTON, D.C.
Amid the vibrancy of Dupont Circle, Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar Washington, D.C., just unveiled a preppy and chic redesign to all meeting and event spaces.
Taking inspiration from the universities of Georgetown just blocks away, Hotel Palomar’s new design celebrates legacy style with unexpected colors and patterns and encompasses all 10,000 square feet of the hotel’s seven meeting and event spaces as well as corridor and pre-function areas.
Los Angeles-based team Powerstrip Studios designed Hotel Palomar’s meeting rooms with a contemporary university club ambiance and bespoke furnishings within. In the hotel’s premier space, the nearly 2,200-square-foot Phillips Ballroom, contemporary flair includes modern chevron wallpaper, boldly patterned carpet meant to emulate marquetry floorings found in classic old halls, and mirrored columns and clear molecular light fixtures that let natural light reflect throughout the large spaces that can host groups and meetings of up to 300 guests.
Hotel Palomar’s National Room emulates both the size and collegiate design of the Phillips Ballroom, while the hotel’s other more intimately sized meeting spaces (Kreeger, Hirshhorn, Freer, Corcoran, and the Boardroom) feature preppy colorblocked linen curtains, classic herringbone print wallpaper, and contemporary light fixtures. The redesigned meeting spaces now flow seamlessly into the hallways, which also double as stylish pre-function space. Wall coverings in a rich charcoal, verging on navy blue hue with graphic art bookcases dot the hallway.
Attendees can dig into catering exclusively provided by executive chef Ethan McKee of Hotel Palomar’s adjacent restaurant, Urbana Dining & Drinks. Chef McKee’s menus emphasize Italian flavors and feature, fresh seasonal ingredients and artisanal goods as well as extensive wine and Italian-leaning craft cocktail menus that can be tailored for any event.
