ANCHORAGE, Alaska
Millennium Hotels and Resorts just completed the third and final phase of refurbishments at The Lakefront Anchorage, formerly Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage.
The only lakeside hotel in Anchorage, The Lakefront Anchorage overlooks Lake Spenard and Lake Hood, the world's largest and busiest floatplane base. The hotel is nicely situated for exploring Alaska, as it is just 10 minutes from downtown Anchorage with ample activities nearby including fishing, hunting and hiking. The Lakefront Anchorage is also the official host hotel for the renowned Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
The last series of hotel-wide changes included a full remodel of all 248 guest rooms as well as building exterior upgrades. Rooms now aim to evoke an upscale Alaskan lodge feel with soft tones and wood accents. Junior and one bedroom suites feature separate living and dining areas and a fully equipped kitchenette while one bedroom suites also offer a cozy fireplace for the cold Alaskan winters. Hotel corridors showcase Alaska's wildlife and landscape by Denali National Park's award-winning photographer, Jimmy Tohill.
The first two phases of refurbishments were to the public spaces, including the lobby as well as the Fancy Moose Lounge, Flying Machine Restaurant, and the seasonal outdoor Deck at Lake Hood. In addition, The Lakefront's entire conference space featuring 6,000 square feet of meetings and event rooms was re-done.
This is the fifth Millennium hotel in the U.S. that has seen extensive upgrades in the past two years, including ONE UN New York, Millennium Hotel Minneapolis, Millennium Harvest House Boulder and most recently The McCormick Scottsdale. Additional properties scheduled for renovations this year include Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles and Millennium Hotel Buffalo.
