San Diego Icon Wraps Massive Makeover

SAN DIEGO

Noble House Hotels & Resorts just announced the completion of a sweeping, multimillion-dollar revitalization of the iconic Kona Kai Resort & Spa.

From the refreshed guest rooms to the addition of a 7,020-square-foot SpaTerre, Kona Kai is a restyled creation of fresh elegance and an enhanced guest experience, situated on the very tip of Shelter Island.

Kona Kai Resort & Spa invites locals and vacationers to indulge in one of the 129 revitalized guest rooms and in-room amenities, refreshed lobby, a completely renovated waterfront restaurant, Vessel, a newly built Tiki Bar, along with a revamped pool, the addition of SpaTerre and 55,000 square feet of flexible meetings spaces.

The property now provides a fresh experience that reflects modern San Diego, while still celebrating the hotel's rich history as a San Diego landmark and a maritime haven. Kona Kai Club originally opened in 1953, and was one of the first developments on the then predominantly Polynesian-themed Shelter Island.

The Kona Kai Club was a marina, intended from the start to serve high-end yachts, and has since been known as the premiere marina in San Diego. The catalog of celebrities who have moored pleasure boats includes Clark Gable, Burt Lancaster, Jack Lemmon, Gregory Peck, Jimmy Durante, Dick Van Dyke, Liberace, and more.

In 1959, the Kona Inn hotel was opened next door and Kona Kai Resort & Spa continues to offers guests an island respite within bustling San Diego.
