Great Wolf Resorts Buys Colo. Springs Hotel

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.

Great Wolf Resorts, a Wisconsin-based owner and developer of family-friendly waterpark resorts under the Great Wolf Lodge brand, purchased the partially-built Renaissance Hotel in Colorado Springs.

Great Wolf plans to build an adjacent indoor waterpark, according to an article published by The Gazette, a local newspaper in the area. The hospitality company paid $18 million for the hotel.

The Renaissance Hotel closed its doors after its original developer ran out of money to fund the construction of the property, almost six years ago.

The Gazette reported it was not clear at this time if the $18 million is the full investment price of the hotel, or if Great Wolf partnered with Flintco Inc., who bought the hotel for nearly $29 million in 2011.

The hotel is expected to be named the Great Wolf Lodge at InterQuest Marketplace and will feature 311 rooms, in addition to the adjacent indoor waterpark.

Great Wolf Resorts currently owns and operates 12 properties throughout the U.S., with a wide range of meetings and events space available between its resorts and attached conference centers. No further details of the meeting facilities for the planned Colorado Springs resort were given at this time.
