BLAINE, Wash.
Semiahmoo Resort, Golf and Spa, an iconic seaside resort located just 90 minutes north of Seattle and 45 minutes south of Vancouver, B.C. on the pristine shores of Semiahmoo Bay and Drayton Harbor in Blaine, Wash., recently completed a multimillion-dollar restoration, turning the Resort into a “must experience,” state-of-the-art luxury destination.
"When we started this project, the ownership group had a vision to reclaim Semiahmoo Resort as a premier destination resort,” said Yogi Hutsen, president and CEO of Costal Hotels. “I’m proud to say that they more than succeeded. Their vision has been surpassed and what's been created is one of the most luxurious Pacific Northwest resorts, where guests can enjoy some of the best golf in the state, relax in our spa, or just walk the beaches to unplug and reconnect with their loved ones.”
Surrounded by tide pools and estuaries that provide a sanctuary for Pacific Northwest wildlife, the 212 luxury guest rooms were inspired by the serenity of the sea. A nod to the seaside location can be found throughout the property, from the deep ocean blue carpets to the warm sunset yellow décor.
Numerous rooms feature a balcony, bringing the soothing tones of the gentle lapping waves into the room and providing a secluded location to enjoy the explosive sunsets. Guests entering through the new grand porte-cochere will notice the sunshine yellow exterior as well as the driveway created from locally collected shells.
The lobby and general areas feature Net Effect, an eco-friendly carpet that supports small fishing villages in the Philippines by repurposing discarded fishing nets collected by locals along the double barrier reef, into carpet tiles. The resort has also installed Tesla and a Sun Country Highway charging stations for electric cars.
Food and Beverage
In addition to the guest room and lobby renovations, Semiahmoo Resort also updated Packers Oyster Bar and opened Pierside Kitchen.
Pierside Kitchen features fresh, seasonally inspired cuisine, with an emphasis on showcasing the ultra-local bounty available in abundance due to its seaside environs and proximity to farms and ranches. Located on the pier with floor-to-ceiling views of Semiahmoo Bay, the whitewashed weathered wood siding and ceilings of the dining room hark back to the area’s origins as an Alaska Packers Association cannery, which served as a center for salmon processing for nearly 80 years.
Packers Oyster Bar features up-scale pub food in a “coastal cottage” environment with walnut floors, a sprawling distressed wood bar, leather arm chairs, and artisan-inspired bar stools.
Outdoor Activities and Spa
Semiahmoo Resort features a wealth of activities to enjoy during a stay, such as indoor and outdoor tennis courts, beach volleyball court, squash/racquetball court, basketball hoops, outdoor pool heated to 80 degrees year round, fitness center with an indoor track, and two challenging and highly rated public golf courses. Backyard BBQ’s on Friday and Clambakes on Saturday run through September 12th, providing guests an opportunity to mingle.
The resort’s luxurious spa also offers guests a wide array of seaweed inspired treatments. Nearby activities include biking trails, the historic Plover Ferry, kayaking and much more.
Meetings and Events
With more than 35,000 square feet of versatile banquet and meeting space, Semiahmoo Resort was updated to include state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, new air walls and updated lighting. Multiple drop down screens ensure a view from any seat in the meeting area.
A business center directly outside the main ballroom provides guests with a quick area to work. The storied Stars restaurant was retired, allowing for a new private dining space with a wine tasting room; an inner sanctum of sorts for special occasions, complete with rustic brick floors and wall-to-wall wine storage. Down the hall is a theater, which was renovated with oversized, luxury seating.
An excellent resource for corporate events and family fun, the theater is open for reservations, as well as complementary movie screenings upon request on Friday and Saturday night.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the Resort.
