Grand Wailea Continues Refresh

MAUI, Hawaii

A landmark on the beautiful island of Maui for the past two decades, the Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort is refreshing its masterpiece and announcing an overall room renovation and resort upgrades in its pools, restaurants and lounges, meeting areas, and renowned Spa Grande.

Known for reflecting a stunning blend of Hawaii’s culture and natural beauty, the $40 million upgrades are designed to further enhance the guest experience. 

Renovations to the 24-year-old Grand Wailea include:

Updated guest rooms:

  • Room design updates are being headed by esteemed interior architect Robert Barry of the Los Angeles based Barry Design Associates (BDA).The firm was behind the iconic look of the resort’s Spa Grande.

  • A­ll new furniture and carpeting.

  • Fresh a­rtwork.

  • 55” flat screen television in every room with digital communicaiton system.

  • Power stations on the desk and bedsides.

  • New tile, va­nity a­nd flooring in ba­throoms.

Pool upgrades:

  • Retiled Hibiscus pool.

  • New pool deck at Wailea Canyon Activity Pool.

  • Improved bathrooms at both pools.

  • To Reduce Energy Consumption: Installation of 37 new va­ri­able frequency drives a­nd pump equipment designed to sea­mlessly a­djust water flow in the pools, requiring less electricity to opera­te..

Enhanced outdoor meeting spaces:

  • Enriched Molokini & Ch­apel La­wns.

  • Improved lighting controls.

Food & Beverage renovations:

  • New culinary team in place led by Executive Chef Ryan Urig with a decade of Maui island experience.

  • New concept to replace Café Kula.

  • New furniture in lobby and Botero Lounge.

  • Enhanced wine program in Botero Lounge.

Spa Grande refresh:

  • New carpet and flooring in relaxation are and treatment rooms, along with other upgrades.

Guest Experiences added:

  • Authentic Hawaiian cultural experiences let by Hawaiian Cultural Ambassador.

  • Holiday programming for Spring Break, Summer and December.
