California Coastal Resort Renovates Rooms

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.

Pacific Hospitality Group announced Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara, Calif., is undergoing an extensive guest room renovation set for completion in November 2015.

All 358 rooms, suites and luxury retreats (ranging from 450 to 3,700 square feet) will undergo a more modern transformation while honoring the resort’s signature Spanish Colonial look.

“There will never be another resort like Bacara built on the California coast,” said Kory Kramer, chief investment officer of Pacific Hospitality Group. “Bacara is one of the great luxury resort destinations, and we are committed to maintaining its world-renowned reputation.”

Since Pacific Hospitality Group acquired Bacara Resort & Spa in February 2013, the ownership group has invested more than $20 million into the beachfront property. Recent improvements include a Foley wine tasting room, a new coffee bar, a refreshed seaside restaurant and an upgraded poolside bar.

Highlights of Bacara’s guest room renovation, designed by Kay Lang + Associates, include:

  • Stylish four poster platform beds with soft flowing linen panels, upholstered head boards, pillow top mattresses, luxury bedding by Frette, and custom-designed embroidered shams and throws.
  • iPad minis with a Bacara branded mobile app for ordering room service, spa, valet and restaurant services.
  • 48-inch LED TVs with advanced entertainment systems that can be customized for groups.
  • Four-fixture marble bathrooms with deep-soaking tubs, and warm walnut bathroom vanities with added storage.
  • Locally-inspired art work featuring contemporary watercolor seascapes and vintage Santa Barbara photography.
  • Charge-all charging devices.

Additionally, the new guest rooms will further complement the resort’s sustainability program, which includes:

  • Gently used bars of soap and bath amenities are sanitized, recycled and distributed to families in need via the Clean the World program.
  • Automated lighting and climate controls, which significantly aid energy conservation.
  • Donated bed and bath linens are repurposed into medical bandages by Direct Relief, one of the largest natural disaster relief organizations in the world.
  • New TV entertainment systems and iPads allow in-room compendiums and other resort collateral to go digital, saving paper.
  • Outside each guest room villa, water fountains have been transformed into beautiful water-wise works of art, replacing the water in each fountain with succulents, agaves and hand-blown glass.

Bacara’s guest room renovation is set for completion November 2015. During the renovation process, more than $150,000 worth of the previous guest room furnishings was donated to Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities, Hands and Feet and other local organizations.
