Massive New Marriott Opens in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan

Marriott International, Inc. marked its Taiwan debut with the opening of the Taipei Marriott Hotel.

The Taipei Marriott is the first five-star international hotel in the dynamic Dazhi area of Taipei, the capital city's new commercial hub. The hotel offers 320 luxury hotel rooms, a modern convention center, a high-end shopping mall and luxury apartments.

"We are delighted to open our doors and welcome guests to Taiwan's first Marriott branded hotel," said Henry Lee, COO for Marriott International, Greater China. "Our close proximity to important landmarks, gorgeous settings and modern facilities make the Taipei Marriott Hotel [a great] choice.”

Ideal for business and leisure travelers, the Taipei Marriott Hotel is only 10 minutes from Songshan International Airport and five minutes from Neihu Technology Park. The MRT Jiannan Rd. station, beautiful Mt. Jiannan Trail and Miramar Shopping Center are also short walks away.

The property is also the closest five-star hotel to the National Palace Museum.

The Taipei Marriott Hotel is a stylish new landmark destination and brings never-before-seen features and amenities, including the largest hotel ballroom in Taipei and a rooftop garden and chapel. Its lush green landscape surroundings offer an oasis to travelers who seek escape from bustling Taipei.

As a part of Marriott's "Green Hotel Development" initiative, indigenous shrubbery and flowering plants can be found throughout the grounds interspersed with pieces of art and sitting areas. Inspired by the nearby butterfly biosphere reserve on Mt. Jiannan, an aluminum sculpture named "Butterflies,” created by Spanish artist Manolo Valdes, sits in the center of the landscape to serve as a tribute to nature.

The Taipei Marriott Hotel’s guest rooms and suites range in size from 430 to 860 square feet, in addition to a 2,370-square-foot Presidential Suite. The contemporary design includes a soothing neutral color palette of ivory, cream and gray, accentuated by unobstructed views of Taipei through floor-to-ceiling windows. Each guest room also features high-speed Internet access and a work area.

The Taipei Marriott Hotel offers five distinct restaurants. The Lobby Lounge offers all-day bites and drinks along with free Wi-Fi. Surrounded by a beautiful garden, the Garden Kitchen offers all-day dining with Asian-inspired Western fare served semi-buffet style, offering guests the choice of a variety of light dishes or made-to-order entrees. On Level 2, guests can enjoy Japanese Teppanyaki, Chinese and Western cuisine at live cooking stations at Mark's Teppanyaki. Marriott's signature The Dining Place Chinese restaurant on Level 3 is an elegant setting where guests are treated to a delicious variety of Cantonese and Sichuan dishes.

For more intimate or special occasions, INGE's bar and grill on the 20th floor offers gourmet cuisine accompanied by stunning views from the open-air terrace lounge.

The Taipei Marriott Hotel offers the largest state-of-the-art convention center in Taipei, with 32,300 square feet of pillar-less, flexible space that can be transformed into up to 13 meeting spaces, as well as an elegant 13,600-square-foot Grand Ballroom—the largest in Taiwan.

From large conferences to intimate board meetings, the Taipei Marriott Hotel is an ideal locale, offering the latest audio-visual innovations, access to gourmet catering and expert event planning. For the most memorable weddings in Taipei, the Heavenly Ballroom, located on the top floor of the conference center, offers direct access to a beautiful rooftop garden and charming chapel.

To complete the experience, a fully-equipped health-club on the 19th floor offers a 24-hour fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment and a rooftop swimming pool with views of the Miramar Park Ferris Wheel. A luxury spa offers a menu of signature experiences for women and men.
