RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil
Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro is set for an early 2016 launch, according to a recent update fromGrand Hyatt Hotels. The property is located in Barra da Tijuca, a vibrant neighborhood and one of Rio’s hottest and most exclusive areas, famous for having the most beautiful stretch of beach in the city.
Barra, as it is known by locals, is home to many luxury condominiums and large office complexes, and offers exclusive shopping, dining and cultural attractions. The extensive, pristine-like beach is one of its main highlights, popular for surfing, kite-surfing and people watching.
The Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro will include 21,530 square feet of flexible function space with seating for up to 790 attendees, making the hotel large enough to cater to the city’s convention market.
The hotel’s design concept is based on the idea of an urban resort—to blend the comfort and luxury services of a world-class hotel with the relaxing tranquility of a secluded beach resort.
Yabu Pushelberg, the internationally acclaimed interior designer, created spaces that are airy, original and integrated with the surroundings to create a bond between the hotel’s design and its breathtaking natural settings to promote a one-of-a-kind guest-experience.
The Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro’s 436 rooms and suites aim to create a tranquil retreat using a selection of natural woods, stones, soft-tone fabrics and local artwork. Floor-to-ceiling windows and terraces allow views of the natural beauty of the surroundings, setting the mood for relaxation.
One of the project’s highlights is its vast garden landscaping; an important initiative and commitment to recuperate and preserve the area’s extensive native vegetation.
The hotel’s three signature restaurants were designed by Brazilian architect Arthur Casas—a Seafront restaurant serving Brazilian-inspired dishes, a Japanese restaurant and an Italian restaurant—and will showcase gastronomic choices that highlight local flavors as well as bar and lounge areas.
Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro is also just a short distance from famous neighborhoods such as Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, while Galeão International airport is approximately a 50-minutes away.
