A number of notable organizations and businesses within the hospitality industry, including Portola Hotel & Spa in Monterey, Calif., are showing their support for veterans by participating in the Greenlight A Vet program, which asks participants to change at least one light in a visible location to a green one.
Greenlight A Vet is an advocacy campaign that was started as a simple way for people to show their support for those who have served in the military in some form. Participants are asked to take a picture of their green light effort and use the hashtag #greenlightavet on social media.
Portola Hotel & Spa hung green lights around its lobby trees and encouraged any veterans working or staying at the property to meet up for a quick photo session and share via social media. The hotel announced it will continue to show its support for veterans throughout the month of November.
