The 1,310-room Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa completed a $22 million transformation that is described as giving the Marriott Convention & Resort Network facility a "new energy.”
“Full of light, full of life, and full of energy is what sums up the completion of our beautification project,” said Chris Tatum, vice president & market general manager, Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. “Every aspect of the transformation was made to keep in mind of the next generation of travelers.”
Adapting to change has been key for Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, which completed its last renovation to the hotel main lobby and porte cochere in 2002. The $22 million transformation included updates and new additions to the hotel’s Nanea Lobby, porte cochere, front desk registration, interior design and furniture, lighting fixtures, water features, main ballroom and meeting/special events rooms
The finishing touch of the multimillion-dollar transformation is a 60 x 20 foot carved wooden artwork display made by artist Kaiwi Nui Yoon of Honolulu. The concept of the artwork called “Ka Maka Hinu,” or “The Bright Face,” is intended to reflect Hawaii’s last reigning monarch, Queen Liliuokalani’s love for the people of her kingdom. “Ka Maka Hinu” is designed to interpret and encapsulate Hawaiian values.
The Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa offers 55,000 square feet of total event space.
