HAVANA, Cuba
AccorHotels announced it will begin construction on the 218-room Sofitel So Havana in 2016—further expanding its presence on the island, as confirmed by Eric Peyre in a recent article from HotelsMag.com.
Peyre is a representative for AccorHotels’ Cuban properties, which include Hotel Mercure Sevilla Havane in Havana and Mercure Playa De Oro in Varadero, Cuba. The hotel company recently celebrated the launch of its Hotel Pullman Cayo Coco luxury hotel in Ciego De Avila, Cuba, earlier in December.
AccorHotels owns the Sofitel, Mercure and Pullman brands, among others, and it previously announced the acquisition of FRHI—parent company of Fairmont, Raffles and Swissôtel—to be completed in 2016.
The Sofitel So Havana property in Havana is expected to open in 2018. There were no details on meeting and event space, however, AccorHotels existing Cuban hotels include modest meeting facilities.
