Substitute networking in place of dating and SummitSync is sort of like Tinder for the LinkedIn crowd.
SummitSync’s professional networking app recently hit the major app stores with the goal of “empowering busy professionals to find the right connections at conferences and events.” By providing a single, universal app that supports all conferences and events, the app allows busy professionals to filter through conference clutter and random messages “to find meaningful connections that will translate into real business opportunities.”
SummitSync claims to take the awkwardness out of networking at events, enabling the 90 million professionals who attend tradeshows and conferences in the U.S. annually to be less anxiety-ridden, more productive and get more value from their time and interactions at events.
"Business opportunities are unlocked when people convene around similar purposes and are able to make meaningful connections," said John Corrigan, CEO and co-founder of SummitSync.
The app combines a social networking and discovery frontend with enterprise-class features for data capture and CRM integration on the backend. Simply sign-up using your LinkedIn credentials, select the conference you are attending and swipe right (interested) or left (not interested) when event attendees appear. This upfront filtering system, and inherent double-blinded opt-in nature of the app, aims to remove any unnecessary friction so that you connect with only those interested in meeting.
When a mutual connection is made, in-app messaging, as well as access to your email, calendaring tools and CRM systems are readily available, so that you can better connect.
In a potential appeal to meeting planners, SummitSync says that event production companies have also seen the value in the app as a means of promoting their events, creating a positive attendee experience and offering additional sponsorship opportunities for exhibitors via the networking app.
To date, SummitSync said it has signed on 15 major events and conferences with more than 5,000 users. The free app is available for download in the App Store or on Google Play.
