Columbus Convention Center Debuts Updated Ballroom

COLUMBUS, Ohio

The 1.7 million-square-foot Greater Columbus Convention Center debuted its renovated 25,000-square-foot Union Station Ballroom.

Formerly the Grand Ballroom, this first-floor space has been transformed and features a new color palette, new carpeting and wall treatments and LED customizable lighting. The ballroom may be used in its entirety or divided into three adjacent ballrooms and the name pays homage to the Columbus Union Station train station, the first of which opened in 1850. The first group of meeting room renovation is complete and have been renamed Eisenman and Trott in honor of the architects involved with the original design of the facility.

The convention center also opened the new 800-space Goodale Garage in February and serves event attendees as well as nearby restaurant and community partners in the Short North Arts District.

The High Street façade of the center is scheduled to begin restoration in March and work in the exterior café area will occur this summer with all the tables, chairs and trees being removed at that time. Grids in the concrete will be filled in to create a blank surface.
