AUSTIN
The Hyatt Regency Austin announced Michael Murphy as its new general manager.
Murphy joins the hotel from Hyatt Westlake Plaza in Westlake Plaza, Calif. where he also served as general manager. He has returned to the Austin area after having worked as executive assistant manager at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa between 2008 and 2010.
“I am very excited to be back in Austin and working at the newly renovated Hyatt Regency Austin,” said Murphy. “I look forward to working with the property’s exceptional team to reintroduce the new and improved property to our guests and the local Austin community.”
Murphy has worked with Hyatt Corporation for more than 20 years where he held a variety of positions ranging from guest services manager and executive housekeeper, to rooms manager, front office manager, and more. He has also received several company awards and accolades including Hyatt’s Room Operations Achievement award, Manager of the Year, and more.
Located on the shores of Lady Bird Lake, the property is in the process of completing its multi-million dollar renovation that includes a complete upgrades to its 448 guest rooms, as well as renovation and expansion of the 45,000 square feet of meeting spaces including the addition of the new 14,100-square-foot Zilker Ballroom.
