ANN ARBOR, Mich.
AJ Capital Partners recently announced that Graduate Ann Arbor has opened its doors. Graduate Hotels target U.S. college markets that celebrate each respective town's culture and history.
The 204-room hotel, formerly The Dahlmann Campus Inn, is prominently situated at the gateway to the State Street retail corridor and a short walk to both Kerrytown and Main Street. The property provides immediate access to restaurants, bars, boutiques, galleries and performing arts venues that define the Ann Arbor area. The University of Michigan athletic campus is also within walking distance.
"Graduate Ann Arbor epitomizes the spirit and purpose of our Graduate Hotels nationwide," said Ben Weprin, CEO of AJ Capital Partners. "The hotel is uniquely situated at the crossroads of the university and center of gravity in a highly dynamic community that truly embraces the tradition and optimism of the town. We are thrilled to reintroduce Graduate Ann Arbor to a new generation of guests.”
Graduate Ann Arbor evokes a cozy club feel with nods to the history and culture of the town. An homage to the engineering history of the university, the lobby features a large mural curated by local artists, depicting the process of engineering students' works, from the manufacturing line to the finished product. Chalkboards decked with equations are found throughout and the faux-painted ceiling of books adds to the collegial feel. A 40-foot long, 60-seat communal table encourages guests to share ideas.
In the guest rooms, charcoal grey flannel walls set the backdrop for preppy plaids and rustic wood accents. Mosaic tiles, reminiscent of Ann Arbor's Nickel Arcade, adorn the bathrooms and entryway, while vintage-inspired art pieces offer subtle references to the area’s sports, arts and cultural history.
"The University of Michigan campus is truly the postcard of college life," said Andrew Alford, chief creative officer with AJ Capital Partners. "We were inspired by so many elements found throughout the university and really wanted to capture that collegiate feel in the design of Graduate Ann Arbor."
The lobby also includes a full-service coffee bar serving La Colombe coffee and fresh juices, as well as beers, spirits and grab-n-go staples such as pastries, sandwiches and salads. Graduate Ann Arbor's restaurant, Allen Rumsey Supper Club, will open late summer 2016. The warm and classic eatery will feature supper club classics such as steak, rack of lamb and duck, among others.
The hotel features 11,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space including four boardrooms and three ballrooms accommodating groups of up to 300. Graduate Ann Arbor is the ideal location for any event from weddings and galas to business meetings and intimate gatherings.
