CHICAGO
The 117-room, independent Hotel Chicago presents the West Loop/Illinois Medical District with a new lodging option that hopes to shake up Chicago’s boutique hotel market with more affordable rates.
The hotel was financed by Joe Perillo, owner of Perillo Auto Group in Chicago. Joining Mr. Perillo to manage and operate the property is Helm ut Horn, President of Portfolio Hotels & Resorts.
Located at 1622 W. Jackson, the renovated historic building is situated in between the Illinois Medical District and Randolph Street dining corridor. Void of heavy competition in the vicinity, Hotel Chicago provides what it claims is a needed overnight option for hospital visitors or savvy travelers.
Hotel Chicago also hopes to revivie a sense of community in the area, which used to be considered a sleepy part of town. As opposed to other choices downtown, the owners say guests will receive genuine hospitality while being able to venture into a neighborhood rather than a business district. In addition to being within walking distance to Restaurant Row on Randolph or the Illinois Medical District, Hotel Chicago is also generally a $4 Uber ride to Greek Town, Little Italy on Taylor, or Union Park.
The Blue Line stop is also within a block, offering CTA rides to either O’Hare or Midway airports.
Room types include a single full, a bunk double twin, and a king deluxe, with amenities like: pillow top memory foam mattress, personal Keurig, refrigerator, microwave, LCD TV with cable, ample closet space and cabinetry, sizable work area, complimentary Wi-Fi, 24-hour fitness center, complimentary coffee, in-room safe, on-site washing machines and a private parking lot with a local garage ($20 a day rates).
There was no information on meeting space being available at the property, but the hotel does provide easy access to areas popular for meetings and events, and manageable airport access.
