Monarch Beach Resort Unveils Revamp

DANA POINT, Calif.

Monarch Beach Resort announced the completion of its year-long $40 million comprehensive renovation that introduces guests to a reimagined luxury resort destination.

An encore to the recently refreshed 400 guest rooms, the dramatic redesign features a new Miraval Life in Balance Spa by Miraval Group, the preeminent spa and wellness brand's first coastal location; a transformed culinary program and five new dining concepts; an expansive new pool area and more.

"We are thrilled to welcome guests, members and neighbors to our thoughtfully reimagined resort that offers a perfect balance between luxury and approachability," said Ian Pullan, GM of Monarch Beach Resort. "Expressions of our extensive transformation, anchored by the Miraval Life in Balance Spa, introduce guests to memorable experiences befitting one of the finest resorts in [the area]."

Renowned for its "Life in Balance" philosophy, innovative programs and treatments, the Miraval Life in Balance Spa provides guests with a new wellness experience inspired by the resort's oceanfront location and rooted in practices that deliver a healthy lifestyle. The spa offers more than 70 signature treatments developed at the company's flagship Miraval Resort & Spa near Tucson, Ariz., each designed to "awaken the senses, create balance and promote a sense of well-being," and encompasses 24 treatment rooms, a lap pool, spa suites, boutique, Drybar, Nail Salon and relaxation and tranquility zones.

Acclaimed for award-winning Chef Michael Mina's Stonehill Tavern, the resort's signature restaurant, and private beachfront dining outlet, Monarch Bay Club, Monarch Beach Resort debuts five new dining concepts led by Executive Chef Collin Thornton. Using fresh ingredients from local purveyors and exercising sustainable practices in all menu creations, the resort's culinary experience includes:

  • AVEO Table + Bar: The Mediterranean restaurant and bar's bright and open space, designed by San Francisco-based hospitality firm Puccini Group, reflects the property's new style of effortless living in seaside elegance. While highlighting the best cuisine from Spain to Italy and from Greece to Morocco, dishes are inspired by local influences and ingredients.
  • 33° North: Dana Point's new social center offers three distinct scenes that pay homage to the resort's inviting coastal location: a contemporary bar for guests to savor hand-crafted cocktails, a living room salon, and an outdoor patio with fireside niches that create a beach-home feel.
  • Part & Parcel Market: Dana Point's newest neighborhood emporium, also designed by Puccini Group, features small bites and healthy options for guests on-the-go.
  • Club 19: This refreshed indoor-outdoor gastro pub located on a coveted perch near the golf course takes the notion of bar food to the next level.
  • Sombra: This Mexi-Cali family-friendly poolside cantina serves a fusion of Mexican/American dishes with a mixture of healthy salads, vegetarian options and modern Mexican comfort food.

Beach house-inspired details speak to the coastal spirit of Southern California from the moment of arrival with panoramic windows, over-sized seating, wide plank wood floors, and more.

The new outdoor oasis provides more ways for couples and families to connect with the adults-only Monarch Pool, the Family Pool with splash zone and two infinity-edge spas that seamlessly spill into the stunning seascape. Private cabanas with built-in music and stocked outdoor minibars, increased poolside chaise lounges and an outdoor fire pit surrounded by couches provide the setting for guests to gather in the evenings. The new multi-level design features a second tier dedicated to lounging.

A refreshed collection of experiences immerse guests in Dana Point's rich land and sea offerings. At the resort's private access beach, guests may enjoy a range of marine adventures, standup paddle boarding, trail hikes, bonfire communions and one-on-one surf lessons under the guidance of a resort Surf Host.

Monarch Beach Resort features more than 30,000 square feet of indoor meeting space.
