ATLANTIC CITY
Members of the Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union voted on Thursday, June 16, to authorize a strike against Bally’s, Caesars, Harrah’s and Tropicana (in addition to the already authorized Trump Taj Mahal) on July 1, 2016, if a contract is not reached to settle grievances related to cutbacks from the recession.
According to an Associated Press article, the union said it made “painful sacrifices [during the recession] that need to be reversed” now that Atlantic City’s casinos are starting to rebound and earn profits.
Borgata, Golden Nugget and Resorts have been given a pass from the current round of potential strikes, as the union stated that talks with the three casinos have been making progress, comparatively.
