PERTHSHIRE, Scotland
The 5-star Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland announced an extensive renovation. The multimillion-dollar revamp represents a substantial investment from new owner, Ennismore, to make the most of the rich heritage, beautiful architecture and stunning setting for which the hotel is renowned.
The first phase was completed in May 2016 and includes a brand-new bar in the Dormy Clubhouse, conceived by esteemed British design house Macaulay Sinclair. With a relaxed, social setting, the bar will offer a cozy dining experience with light snacks and shared plates. The bar will also serve up craft beers made at nearby De Brus Brewery in Dunfermline and Fallen Brewing Company in Stirling.
The investment also will feature a redesign of approximately 30 bedrooms, the hotel’s main bar, plus corridors and public areas throughout the property, to create relaxing and welcoming spaces for guests.
Collectively, the designs will pay homage to the hotel’s history and reflect Gleneagles’ distinctly Scottish identity. A contemporary twist will offer a stylish, welcoming and luxurious environment.
“Inspiration came from our initial visit to the hotel; the building’s scale, presence and grandeur—as well as its incredible location, with rolling Scottish hills and an amazing palette of natural colors—inspired us,” said international interior designer Jo Littlefair of Goddard Littlefair. “We wanted the rooms to reflect that sense of emotional uplift via a warm, welcoming and reviving ambiance, with true five-star luxury communicated through highly individual room treatments and one-off touches in each room.”
The hotel’s main bar, which has served as the hotel’s social hub for over 90 years, will be renovated by eminent design house David Collins Studio. The updated space will be an inviting, vibrant gathering place with an extensive drinks list and a local Scottish influence in its culinary offerings.
Gleneagles’ top priority will continue to be providing an outstanding experience for guests. Plans are in place to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and the hotel will remain open throughout the revamp.
Gleneagles offers extensive meeting and event services, with an emphasis on unique experiences.
