CHICAGO
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced plans for two brand-new hotels and one renovation project at O’Hare International that will more than double the airport's current hotel capacity.
According to Commercial Property Executive, the Chicago Department of Aviation will finance and develop a new hotel with direct access to O’Hare travelers, adjacent to Terminal 5. The full-service airport is expected to include 300 to 400 rooms and 25,000 to 65,000 square feet of meeting space.
The other new on-site hotel will be part of a mixed-use commercial development on the northeast side of O’Hare along Mannheim Road, which is expected to include an additional 150-200 rooms. The O’Hare Hilton also announced a renovation specifically targeting large-scale tradeshows and events.
Construction on all three projects, at a total investment of about $350 million, is scheduled to be completed sometime in 2020. More information on the O’Hare hotel expansion is available here.
