SIOUX FALLS, S.D.
John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts (JQH) announced Kraig Pomrenke is the new general manager of JQH’s owned and operated Sheraton Sioux Falls & Convention Center in South Dakota.
With extensive hospitality experience in Sioux Falls, Pomrenke assumes on-site management of the upscale hotel from former general manager Becky Vealey, who recently was appointed as JQH’s regional director of sales. Springfield, Missouri-based JQH is a private, independent owner and manager of hotels in the U.S., operating more than one million square feet of meeting space.
“We are so pleased to have Kraig back on board at JQH, bringing with him his wealth of knowledge of JQH’s Sheraton Sioux Falls and the local area,” said Bob Niehaus, JQH’s regional vice president. “Kraig is an energetic leader that leverages his planning skills and creativity to deliver on JQH’s high standards.”
Pomrenke brings more than 34 years in the hospitality business, including eight years with JQH assignments in Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota spanning Sheraton Sioux Falls and Embassy Suites by Hilton branded properties. Most recently, he served as GM of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield, Ill. Pomrenke’s career also includes roles with Spectra Food Services and Hospitality as director of business development/food services in Florida and as GM of the Sioux Falls Convention Center. He also served as GM of the Holiday Inn University Hotel in South Bend, Ind., for IHG.
“It’s great to be back in Sioux Falls and connecting with this thriving community,” Pomrenke said. “I’m looking forward to getting involved with helping to bring business to the area.”
