CHICAGO
Airline and city officials unveiled a multibillion-dollar enhancement plan for Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport that will add more gates and a new central terminal to the airport, if approved.
According to Reuters, initial steps in the plan include installing additional gates at O’Hare’s international terminal. Money would be raised for this through the sale of bonds backed by facility passenger charges.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office is also expected to propose an O’Hare bond issue to the city council later this year, though a cost estimate or financing plan for the new terminal was not available from the city.
More information on the proposed O’Hare expansion is available via Reuters. A $350 million hotel expansion was also announced for the airport in June 2016, as reported on our website.
