HERSHEY, Pa.
Executive Pasty Chef Cher Harris of The Hotel Hershey in Hershey, Pa., was awarded the Pastry Chef of the Year award at the American Culinary Federation’s annual convention held in Phoenix.
Harris has won numerous pastry awards, including being named the 2016 ACF Northeast Region Pastry Chef of the Year back in March, which qualified her for the Pastry Chef of the Year award.
Harris’ experience includes executive pastry chef and part of the opening management team, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, Grantville, Pa.; pastry chef/pastry arts instructor, Harrisburg Area Community College, Harrisburg, Pa.; and assistant pastry chef, Bent Creek Country Club, Lititz, Pa.
She graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College with associate degrees in culinary arts and food service management. In 2014, Harris won first place in the Ladies’ World Pastry Championship, Rimini, Italy, and received the title of “2014 Pastry Queen.” She also won a gold medal at ACF’s Delhi Catskill Competition in 2011. Dessert Professional magazine recognized Harris as one of the Top 10 Pastry Chefs in America in 2014. Harris is a member of ACF Harrisburg Chapter and has won various chapter awards.
The Hotel Hershey is a popular meeting locale, offering 25,000 square feet of space. Harris works with groups at the hotel to come up with fun and varied dessert offerings for a more memorable event.
