NEW YORK
The Westin New York at Times Square, which made headlines with its eye-catching design as a new-build in New York City over a decade ago, has unveiled a new 45th floor Empire Suite, updated lobby and a new culinary concept with the launch of Foundry Kitchen & Bar.
The trio of enhancements at the 873-room luxury hotel in the heart of Manhattan’s famed Times Square are the topping of a multi-phase, top-to-bottom renovation totaling $39 million dollars.
The Empire Suite, formerly the Presidential Suite, gets top billing in the renovation, literally and figuratively, as it spans 1,800 square feet atop the hotel, 45 floors above the action of Times Square.
It has a casual elegance that is reflective of its location and is complimented with the use of steel, glass, concrete and metal accents throughout. Highlights of the Empire Suite include a glass writing wall for meetings, a fireplace portal that both highlights and frames the view, and a headboard feature wall to reflect the skyline views. The Empire Suite features one bedroom, a living room and kitchenette.
The newly launched Foundry Kitchen & Bar, located on the second floor of The Westin New York at Times Square, aims to provide an innovative gathering spot for guests. Designed to be a respite from Times Square, this modern bar and lounge hopes to become a spot where guests and locals alike gather.
The previous phases of the renovation brought all-new guest rooms and corridors, each featuring custom-designed elements and artwork, as well as 34,000 square feet of meeting and pre-function space and expanded energy conservation practices. Much of the group function space utilizes recycled materials, keeping with the hotel’s strong environmentally-friendly values.
