Darrell Pilant

VALLEY CENTER,Calif.

Harrah’s Resort Southern California announced the appointment of Darrell Pilant as the new general manager following the retirement of current Regional President and General Manager Janet Beronio.

“While we will miss Janet, we are looking forward to working with Darrell who is a loyal friend to the tribe. He has strong leadership skills and we are confident he will carry on the tradition of maintaining Harrah’s Resort Southern California as the best place to play, and the best place to work,” stated Bo Mazzetti, chairman of the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians. “We have already benefited from his cutting-edge marketing skills and uncanny gift for identifying trends, and we are pleased that he will continue to guide us through constantly evolving markets and industry changes.”

Pilant, who was vice president and assistant general manager, has been with Caesars Entertainment for 19 years. He began his career in 1997 as first mate at Harrah’s Casino and Hotel in North Kansas City , Mo. and, over the next 10 years, held positions at seven different locations across the U.S.

“Darrell began his career on the casino floor and spent many committed years working up to his current title,” said Janet Beronio. “He has an incredibly extensive understanding of the business and I could not be more proud to see him take on this new role. I have no doubt that his stragetic and creative direction will continue to lead Harrah’s Resort Southern California to the highest excellence.”

Pilant is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve as Lieutenant Commander before retiring.

The resort, located 40 minutes northeast of San Diego recently began construction on an expansion that will add guest rooms, four meeting rooms and an in-house brewery. Currently the property has a 23,000-square-foot event center with 21 meeting rooms and a capacity of 2,200 people.
