The Garland announced the appointment of Larry Greenwood to executive chef and Jacob Smith to chef de cuisine, forming an exciting duo to further elevate the San Fernando Valley’s dining scene.
A veteran of the hospitality industry, Executive Chef Greenwood has helmed the kitchens of some of Los Angeles’ top restaurants for more than a decade. Alongside Chef De Cuisine Jacob Smith, whose past experience includes training under world-renowned Chef Thomas Keller at Bouchon Bistro in Beverly Hills, Chef Greenwood will oversee the entirety of the hotel’s culinary efforts, while together they will drive The Front Yard’s approachable, yet elevated menu.

With more than 25 years of versatile industry experience, Chef Greenwood most recently served as multi-unit executive chef at LGO Hospitality, which includes the La Grande Orange Café and The Luggage Room Pizzeria in Pasadena, Calif. He has headlined and cooked at legendary events including Los Angeles Food & Wine, Sundance Film Festival, Taste of Beverly Hills, LA Dinner Club at West Hollywood’s Marco’s Restaurant, and more. Chef Greenwood has also held the role of executive chef at STK Los Angeles, The Standard Hotel on Sunset Blvd, and he has overseen BOA Steakhouse in both Santa Monica and Hollywood.
Built in 1972 by Fillmore Crank for his wife, well-known Hollywood actress, Beverly Garland, The Garland has a colorful history and strong presence in the North Hollywood community. The hotel offers 257 guest rooms and 16,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 5,100-square-foot ballroom that can accommodate up to 650 guests and the 4,000-square-foot outdoor Beverly Park that has capacity for 500.
