Hilton Portland Announces Major Renovations

PORTLAND, Ore.

Hilton Portland & Executive Tower announced that it will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation. The upcoming property-wide transformation, slated for completion in spring 2017, will include thorough renovations to the guest rooms, a new lobby configuration, 6,500 square feet of new meeting and event space, and new restaurant and bar venues.

“We are excited to begin the process of redesign and look forward to the finalization of the hotel’s new concept, which will enhance the comfort level of both leisure and business guests,” said Eric Walters, general manager of the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower. “We will fill the needs for large groups and conventions by incorporating additional meeting space into Hilton Portland and continuing to reflect the unique essence of the city of Portland within our walls.”

Hilton Portland & Executive Tower is currently comprised of 782 guest rooms and 66,000 square feet of meeting space. In the first stage of the renovation the former athletic club will be relocated to create two new breakout areas in order create the additional meeting space. The new fitness room has been relocated and opened on the first floor. On the second floor of the main building, a 5,500-square-foot ballroom has been added to allow for a space with windows on three of the walls and a large skylight. Additional breakout space was expanded by 600 square feet to support the Plaza Level.

The next phase of the renovation of Hilton Portland will feature the renovation and redesign of the first-floor hotel lobby. This will include a new front desk and a communal seating area in the area between HopCity Tavern & Market, the hotel’s locally sourced American gastro pub, which opened in 2015, and the new front desk. This lobby area, which is being reconfigured to offer more social space, will include design elements that draw on the uniqueness and originality of Portland by incorporating rich, warm materials that are indigenous to the region. With inspiration drawn from the city’s 1960s mid-century roots, the new guest room design will incorporate a clean, timeless and contemporary feel with the addition of new artwork, furniture, technology and more.

The Executive Tower building of the Hilton Portland, located across the street from the main tower of the hotel, will also undergo a complete transformation and will evolve into a boutique lifestyle hotel concept complete with a new name. The space will also include a new restaurant called Jackrabbit, by chef Chris Cosentino, to be completed in spring 2017.
