MINNEAPOLIS
Downtown Minneapolis now has more than 8,000 hotel rooms to offer visitors for both leisure and business. The new milestone was surpassed thanks to the opening of five new hotels this fall.
AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown, Embassy Suites Minneapolis Downtown, Radisson RED Minneapolis, Hewing Hotel and Hampton Inn and Suites Minneapolis University Area all recently opened for business.
These five new properties include 940 new rooms, bringing the total number of rooms within the downtown area to 8,407 across 33 hotels (this figure includes only hotels of more than 50 rooms).
The city’s hotel boom is part of The Minneapolis Big Build, which is a $2 billion collection of major projects that are transforming Minneapolis, adding new facilities, new green space and new public amenities that will enhance Minneapolis for everyone who lives, works, visits and plays here.
With the redesign of its Nicollet street, the opening of U.S. Bank Stadium and Commons Park and a major renovation to Target Center, the heart of downtown will be bolder, greener and more inviting than ever.
Here’s a quick look at the range of hotels that recently opened in Minneapolis:
The AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown, located in the Hennepin Theatre District, provides a “sophisticated retreat that’s rich in style and substance.” The property aims to appeal to creative and innovative visitors. The hotel, which is within walking distance of Target Center and Nicollet Mall, offers 1,500 square feet of meeting space.
The Embassy Suites Minneapolis Downtown provides an upscale experience across 290 suites. Directly linked to the Minneapolis skyway system, guests enjoy quick access to restaurants, shops, and nightlife in the city. Additionally, the hotel is located just a block from one of the city’s METRO train stations. Its meeting and event spaces include 10 separate rooms, totaling more than 12,600 square feet of space.
The Hewing Hotel is located in the city’s booming North Loop neighborhood. The hotel, inspired by the city’s logging history and Minnesota’s Nordic heritage, embodies a North woods cabin stay. Each of the 124 rooms and 13 suites is uniquely designed, with Scandinavian aesthetics and cabin culture. The Hewing proudly houses Tullibee, a restaurant inspired by Minnesota’s natural history, which features a Nordic influenced menu.
The Radisson RED Minneapolis is located in the East Town neighborhood of Minneapolis near the bold new U.S. Bank Stadium. With 164 contemporarily designed studios, the Radisson is the ideal stay for “millennial mindset travelers.” The hotel experience features check-in via mobile device and a virtual concierge. A 1,000-square-foot event space also functions as a game studio. The modern space at Radisson RED Minneapolis also features a fitness center, on-site parking, free high speed Wi-Fi and graphic visuals by local artists.
The Hampton Inn and Suites Minneapolis University Area is adjacent to the University of Minnesota. Situated between the campus and nearby Prospect Park neighborhood, guests only walk a few paces to the nearby METRO station for easy transportation around the city. With 117 guest rooms and suites, Hampton Inn and Suites provides each room with a microwave, mini-fridge, HDTV, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
