NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.
Prominently situated on a hill overlooking the Potomac, MGM National Harbor opened its doors to the public at 11 p.m., Dec. 8, introducing the first luxury gaming resort to the capital region. The $1.4 billion, 308-room resort property offers an array of attractions and 50,000 square feet of meeting space.
MGM National Harbor is overlooking the Washington Monument, National Mall, U.S. Capitol, Potomac River, National Harbor and Old Town Alexandria, alongside the landscape of Prince George’s County. Its architecture and design is said to be incorporating elements from and inspired by the historical region.
“This level of private investment is unprecedented in the region, and so is what we’ve built,” said Jim Murren, CEO of MGM Resorts. “MGM Resorts has long promoted global trade and travel—and MGM National Harbor will be a significant driver of both, strengthening Washington, D.C. as a tourist magnet.”
Here are some of the accommodations that will be provided at MGM National Harbor:
- Exclusive restaurants by José Andrés, Marcus Samuelsson, and Michael and Bryan Voltaggio, complementing an array of specialty and quick casual dining with 15 concepts in all.
- The Theater at National Harbor, a 3,000-seat entertainment venue drawing A-list performers, the Conservatory at National Harbor, a 15,000-square-foot floral attraction by Ed Libby.
- A two-level 27,000-square-foot Spa & Salon with 11 treatment rooms, a full-service salon, rustic barber shop, couples’ suites, hydrotherapy, a Vichy room, a wellness program and more.
- A 125,000-square-foot casino featuring an Asian gaming put with 16 Macau-style Baccarat tables, more than 3,300 slot machines 126 table games, a 39-table poker room and more.
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, Senate President Mike Miller and Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III, among others, were in attendance to commemorate the opening of MGM National Harbor.
Room reservations are now being accepted for the resort, with rates starting at $299.
