DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla.
The Shores Resort & Spa has announced the appointment of Richard Byrd as general manager of the 212-room boutique hotel.
Byrd will oversee day-to-day operations of the property, which was recently purchased by UHON Inc. and is now managed by Pyramid Hotel Group.
With two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Byrd comes to The Shores with extensive operations experience with upper-level brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Starwood and Interstate Hotels and Resorts. Most recently, Byrd was general0mManager at the Crowne Plaza Melbourne-Oceanfront in Florida, where he was named Entrepreneurial General Manager of the Year (2015).
Prior to this, he was vice president of operations at Trans Inns Hotel Management, where he directed 13 properties with combined revenue of $94 million. He has served as a board member for numerous tourism organizations, and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Franklin College in Indiana.
Situated on the Atlantic shoreline, The Shores Resort & Spa features more than 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor adaptable function space for meetings of up to 400 guests.
