DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Myrtle Beach Oceanfront announced the appointment of Alan Fabris as director of sales and marketing.
In his new role, Fabris will direct the resort’s internal sales team to increase meeting business across all market segments. He will also oversee advertising and public relations efforts at the 452-room resort.
“Alan is a great addition to our team and we’re happy to have him leading our sales and marketing initiatives for the property,” stated Michael Frits, general manager. “His knowledge of the hospitality industry, exceptional reputation and long-standing relationships in the meetings arena will immediately allow us to compete on a larger scale.”
Fabris’ tourism career spans three decades and includes 20 years with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and 10 years with Hyatt Hotels Corporation. He was most recently area director of sales and marketing for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, overseeing 14 properties throughout the Midwest and responsible for combined group revenue production totaling $115 million.
Fabris has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career, including Sales Team of the Year, Director of Sales of the Year and Outstanding RevPAR Performance, among others. He is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he earned a degree in Hotel Management.
Formerly the Springmaid Beach Resort, the 30-acre oceanfront DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Myrtle Beach Oceanfront features an all-new main building, ocean view restaurant and lounge, “grab & go” snack area and outdoor entertainment terrace, which were part of a recent multimillion-dollar, property-wide renovation project.
The hotel’s 35,000 square feet of indoor meeting space was also part of the enhancement project. The three-story conference center was outfitted with new decor, wall treatments, carpet and paint and features versatile function space with floor-to-ceiling windows on each floor for ocean views with access to oceanfront covered balconies. The three ballrooms – Atlantic, Carolina and Springs – are divisible into 19 meeting or breakout rooms, offering space for 10 to 1,000 guests. The resort also has several small meeting rooms and hospitality suites available for use.
