It’s been many years, and that one job on your resume still irks you.
The boss was stingy on the job titles, and the one you had was far lower than where you were operating. So it’s OK to change the title, right? It’s been holding you back in your career. Wrong. Beware about the temptation of “uptitling”—or giving yourself a promotion. You must be honest in your career portrayal.
Solution: Provide the actual job title to be verified, and in parentheses include the equivalency. Problem solved.
