NEW YORK
New York Hilton Midtown appointed Diarmuid Dwyer to the position of general manager.
In his new role, Dwyer will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the 1,931-room Midtown Manhattan hotel.
“A proven and dynamic leader, Diarmuid possesses over 20 years of hospitality management experience,” said Keith Clampet, senior vice president, operations, Hilton. “His extensive experience with the brand as well as in room operations, food and beverage, property operations and developing effective top-line strategies will help elevate New York Hilton Midtown’s guest experience to new heights.”
Dwyer has been a member of the Hilton family for over a decade, including a 13-year tenure at the historic Waldorf Astoria New York where he most recently held positions as hotel manager and executive director of the Waldorf Towers, the 181-room property within the Waldorf Astoria.
During his award-winning tenure at Waldorf Astoria New York, he increased guest satisfaction and team member engagement, pioneered a partnership with the Guerlain management team to open a 14,000-square-foot spa and most recently positioned the hotel with the owners for an extensive multiyear restoration.
A native of Ireland, Dwyer began his hospitality career at the Killarney Park Hotel located in Killarney, Ireland, before gaining resort experience at the Barton Creek Resort and Spa in Austin, Tex.
The New York Hilton Midtown was built in 1963 and is within walking distance of Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, Museum of Modern Art, Carnegie Hall, and Fifth Avenue shopping. The hotel has recently been renovated with a contemporary look present throughout the lobby, restaurant, bars and lounges, fitness center and guest rooms and suites. The hotel offers more than 150,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 24,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom than can accommodate 3,000 guests.
