Efrén Aponte

BOSTON

The Ames Boston Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton announced the appointment of Efrén Aponte to the position of director of sales and marketing. Aponte officially joined the Ames Boston Hotel team in early 2017.

Aponte’s ideal skillset and forward-looking vision are ideally suited to help steer Ames Boston Hotel through the final phase of a multimillion-dollar renovation. In this new role, Aponte is responsible for creating and executing meaningful business and communication strategies designed to fuel growth and foster business relationships with current and existing clients in Boston and beyond. With his proven management style, Aponte is ready to re-introduce Ames Boston Hotel as Boston’s premier boutique property boasting unmatched style and sophistication, paired with incomparable history.

Previously, Aponte served as the director of sales and marketing at Battery Wharf Hotel in Boston’s historic North End neighborhood. Here, he managed and oversaw the day-to-day operations of the group, catering, and banquet sales teams, and was responsible for the implementation of marketing strategies and public relations campaigns designed to increase overall visibility of the seaside property.

Prior to his role at Battery Wharf Hotel, Aponte served as the director of group sales for Northwood Hospitality’s Revere Hotel Boston Common from 2011 to 2015, where he successfully oversaw the sales and catering team’s transition from selling a 3-star branded property to a fully independent, boutique 4-star, 4-diamond-rated hotel. Previous positions held by Aponte consist of serving as the director of national accounts and marketing strategies for JW Marriott Miami, and operating as the area sales manager and area catering sales manager for a cluster of Ft. Lauderdale properties, including Hyatt Pier 66, Bahia Mar, and Hilton Fort Lauderdale.

“With a multimillion dollar renovation that added an all-new lobby, library room, and event space, Ames Boston Hotel is now uniquely positioned to exceed the demands of today’s business and leisure travelers, and meeting and event planners alike,” said Aponte. “We look forward to unveiling our refreshed guestrooms and the opening of acclaimed Chef Mary Dumont’s new restaurant Cultivar, which will bring a shining example of farm-to-table garden cuisine to the property.”

Constructed in 1893, the hotel resides in the iconic Ames Building. Named to the National Register of Historic Places, the hotel is located adjacent to Boston’s Financial District and features 114 guest rooms and 2,000 square feet of event space.
