WAILEA, Hawaii
The newly refreshed Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, includes a renovation of its 776 guest rooms and suites with new furniture, carpet, artwork, linens and a 55-inch flat screen smart television in every room. Power stations on the desk and bedside, new tile, vanity and flooring completed the renovation.
The resort sits on 40 lushly landscaped acres along Wailea Beach, Maui. New for guests is a tour of the property with Kainoa Horcajo who offers a cultural history lesson and education of Grand Wailea’s culturally significant sites and design. View the art and landscape with a traditional cultural practitioner as he interweaves values of hookaulike (balance), aloha, paahana (industriousness), and kupono (integrity) into a discussion about the ahupuaa, the traditional resource/behavior management system. The tour ends with a visit to two revered cultural sites.
The tour is Wednesdays 10 to 11 a.m., complimentary to the public and can be booked for meeting attendees outside of the Wednesday time.
