TAMPA, Fla.

The Epicurean Hotel announced today the appointment of Kevin Scott as general manager of the 137-room boutique hotel.

Scott will oversee the hiring of new staff and day-to-day operations of the Epicurean, located in the trendy Hyde Park historic district of South Tampa. Tom Haines, previous general manager of the Epicurean, has been promoted to vice president of operations of Mainsail Lodging & Development, Epicurean’s parent company.

“I am thrilled to have Kevin as my successor at the Epicurean,” said Tom Haines, vice president of operations, Mainsail Lodging & Development. “He embodies the spirit and enthusiasm that has made the hotel a success and we look forward to him continuing the momentum of this unique property.”

With 13 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Scott comes to the Epicurean from the Hotel Max in Seattle, Wash., where he worked for three years as the general manager. He also spent seven years with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, where he worked in San Francisco for the W and the Westin St. Francis Hotel.

While at Starwood, Scott held a variety of positions, including business travel sales manager, rooms manager, director of style and front desk manager, before he departed to become the director of operations at the Galleria Park Hotel, a Joie de Vivre Hotel in San Francisco.

During his career, Scott has earned a number of recognitions, including Manager of the Year at the Westin St. Francis and earned his Six Sigma Green Belt certification at the W San Francisco.

The food-focused Epicurean Hotel features a state-of-the-art culinary classroom known as the Epicurean Theatre; Élevage, a restaurant where classic recipes are reimagined; EDGE rooftop bar; Chocolate Pi pâtisserie; Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits wine shop; Evangeline spa; and 5,200 square feet of flexible event space.
