Crowne Plaza Denver Unveils $22M Renovation

DENVER

The Crowne Plaza Denver, part of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), completed a multi-year, $22 million hotel renovation. The update includes the new Plaza Workspace design pilot as well as the WorkLife guest room. These design elements are part of the Crowne Plaza Accelerate program, a $200 million, multi-year brand transformation initiative created to enhance hotels for business travelers.

As part of the renovation, The Crowne Plaza Denver also added 16 new guest rooms, a brand new fitness center, a grab-and-go Marketplace and a new restaurant, The Lockwood Kitchen & Bar.

“The Crowne Plaza Accelerate program is exciting across the board for our entire brand, and here in Denver we are honored to be on the forefront of the new offerings for our loyal Crowne Plaza guests,” said Sacha Jurva, general manager of Crowne Plaza Denver. “The new Plaza Workspace, coupled with our new restaurant, The Lockwood Kitchen & Bar, opens our hotel up to local business within [Denver].”

The Plaza Workspace within the Crowne Plaza Denver, located throughout the lobby, was designed to complement the ever-changing business travelers’ needs. Plaza Workspace offerings include everything from solo soundproofed pods to a sound-buffering sofa nook for up to six people to gather in semi-privacy with touch screens for on-demand food and tech support. These new work spaces include:

  • Huddle Spots: A bespoke item of furniture designed to offer privacy in a public space. Its purpose is to promote and support ad hoc, informal meetings and social meet-ups while providing ‘on-demand’ service and a digital food ordering system.
  • Pods: Single seat, high back and sound buffering stations that are available on a first come, first serve basis, and ideal for guests looking to work alone and take calls in private, but still be within a public space. Amenities include integrated power and USB charging.
  • Nook: Nooks are high-backed, sound-buffering sofas that can accommodate four to six people. They provide publicly private work and leisure space for guests located close to the restaurant and bar, and within the lobby. Amenities include a screen with HDMI connectivity for sharing; table for shared work and leisure use; integrated service call button for F&B needs.
  • The Studio: A private space designed for small groups to meet, get work done and unwind at the end of the day. These spaces are designed to support a wide variety of small meeting styles ranging from the more formal meeting with clients to more relaxed and collaborative sessions.
  • The Marketplace: Available 24/7, The Marketplace is a premium, self-serve outlet that offers a variety of healthy, fresh, local and traditional “grab & go” food and beverage options.

Crowne Plaza’s WorkLife room aims to redefine the guest room experience with a flexible environment featuring distinct zones that encourage guests to work, relax and recharge their way. A modern, purposeful design puts guests in full control of their stay with the following key features:

  • Angled bed: Opens up more space for the distinct zones.
  • Sofa Nook: A sofa nook with many functions: guests can use the multi-purpose space for reading, watching TV, working, meeting with colleagues or kicking back with room service.
  • Desk Area: A distraction-less desk workspace where guests can focus.
  • Welcome Station: A welcome station gets guests settled with a space for keys, bags and coats. Wi-Fi is free, and many USB and power outlets are available for those carrying multiple devices.
  • Bathroom: A modern and bright bathroom helps guests feel re-energized by their routines.

The Lockwood Kitchen & Bar is said to be one of the major highlights of the $22 million renovation, offering guests regionally inspired cuisine that compliments the Mile High City. Executive Chef Alberto Avila's locally inspired dishes feature traditional favorites such as Colorado farm-raised cattle, buffalo, lamb and more to compliment the specialty cocktails and local craft beers. The Lockwood Kitchen & Bar's signature cocktail is the Colorado Old Fashioned, made with local 291 Colorado Whiskey.

As more renowned chefs are getting into the "quick-service boom” trend, Chef Alberto is serving up a Lunch Crunch and Grab n Go Breakfast Burritos at The Lockwood Kitchen & Bar for everyday patrons.

Crowne Plaza Denver offers more than 8,000 square feet of meeting space across eight rooms.
