None of the scheduled meetings or events at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center will be affected in its shelter efforts, according to Marketing & Communications Manager C.C. Gonzalez-Kurz.
Gonzalez-Kurz also provided an update on the weather in Dallas, noting the city “has received minimal rain, but overall weather has not been impacted.”
The Dallas Observer reported that the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center is “ready for guests ... whenever they arrive ... for as long as it takes,” according to Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings. At the time of this update, the city of Dallas employees and volunteers had successfully converted the first floor of the convention center’s air-conditioned parking garage into a 5,000 capacity shelter for Hurricane Harvey evacuees.
