Properties in Florida and the Caribbean are beginning to resume service and accepting reservations post-Irma. Below is an update from some area hotels and resorts.
Following the storm, The Setai, Miami Beach announced that the property has sustained minimal damage and reopened Wednesday, Sept. 13. The resort will resume as usual with the gym, spa and housekeeping fully operational. The property’s ocean-front pools and beach-service are open with limited food and beverage offerings.
The W Miami sustained minimal damage during Hurricane Irma and will be fully operational and accepting reservations starting Friday, Sept. 15. Service will resume as usual at 15th and Vine restaurant, the exercise facility and spa, 50th floor Wet Deck and Whisper Cocktail Lounge.
1 Hotels confirmed the reopening of 1 Hotel South Beach for Friday Sept.15 at noon, following its closure due to Hurricane Irma and Miami’s mandatory evacuation of the area. 1 Hotel South Beach will resume operations as usual with the property’s ocean-front pools and Sand Box dining, Beachcraft restaurant, pltnhouse, Bamford Haybarn Spa and Spartan Gym, among other hotel amenities and features, like poolside cabanas and in-room dining. Beach service will become available the following day, beginning Sept.16 while 1 Rooftop pool and Watr restaurant are undergoing beautification efforts following the storm and will reopen at a later date.
The Diplomat Beach Resort team and the city of Hollywood, Fla., have worked diligently to clear the property and surrounding roadways of scattered debris to restore limited service operations on Friday, Sept. 15. The property will be fully operational, including its 10 food and beverage outlets, as of Saturday, Sept. 16.
Chesapeake Lodging Trust announced that it reopened its Royal Palm South Beach Miami, a Tribute Portfolio Resort on Tuesday, Sept. 12, just 48 hours after Hurricane Irma passed through the state of Florida.
Meliá Hotels International reports that hotels in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Orlando and Miami are fully operational, following in the wake of Hurricane Irma. Furthermore, the ME Miami opened Wednesday, Sept. 13 and resumed service as usual.
Meliá Coco Beach hotel has conducted an extensive property assessment in the wake of Hurricane Irma. The hotel has not been significantly affected and has reopened to guests.
Seven Stars Resort & Spa reported that all of the staff and guests safely weathered the storm without injury. The resort received minor damage and none of the buildings on property sustained any serious damage and was not affected by any rising water or flooding. Additionally, the resort never closed its doors through the hurricane and is fully operational. Landscaping was impacted and the resort team is working diligently to restore it.
Sagamore Hotel Miami Beach announced on Friday, Sept., 15 full hotel operations are available for reservations including all 93 suites and bungalows as well as its beachfront pool, meeting space, and signature restaurant CANVAS.
“We were very fortunate and thankful that Sagamore did not experience any significant property damage and most importantly our staff is safe,” commented Stefan Ehrenberg, general manager.
Lighthouse Pointe at Grand Lucayan reported it fared well during the storm and re-opened its doors on Friday, Sept. 15.
