Kimpton Sets Opening Date for Charlotte Hotel

CHARLOTTE, N.C.

On Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will open the doors to its 18-story Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel in uptown Charlotte. The 217-room boutique hotel is Kimpton’s first in Charlotte and its second in North Carolina, joining Winston-Salem’s Kimpton Cardinal Hotel.

With a name inspired by its Tryon Street address and its location perched above Romare Bearden Park and the adjacent BB&T Ballpark, Kimpton Tryon Park will combine upscale style and design with the locally influenced perks, amenities and personal service that make the Kimpton experience unique.

Surrounded by uptown Charlotte's vibrant arts, culture, retail, sports and entertainment, the hotel will further the neighborhood’s appeal as a destination. The property will feature a signature ground-floor restaurant and more than 9,000 square feet of meetings and events space, including a 4,000-square-foot ballroom. The hotel’s 1,100-square-foot rooftop bar and events space, offering stunning views of the city and a retractable roof, will be a destination for special occasions and gatherings in uptown Charlotte.

Adjacent to the 25-story 300 South Tryon office tower and a linear park connecting Romare Bearden Park to Tryon Street, the design of Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel marries modern sophistication with Southern charm, incorporating sweeping glass, polished marble and glimmering crystal along with familiar finishes such as warm, mahogany woodwork.

To lead the team managing the boutique hotel, Kimpton has tapped one of its seasoned alum, Robert Hannigan, to serve as the property’s general manager. With more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Hannigan is set to lead the hotel following his most recent appointment as general manager at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Portland, a 220-room hotel in Portland, Ore.

Hannigan joined Kimpton in 2007 and has held management roles at several of its boutique hotels in California, Oregon and the Washington, D.C. metro area. In his new position, Hannigan will oversee and manage all aspects of the opening and operations of Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel.

“I’m tremendously excited about the opportunity to open Kimpton’s first hotel in Charlotte,” Hannigan said. “Our company is proud to bring its pioneering approach to boutique hospitality to the Queen City, and we can’t wait to introduce Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel to the community this fall."
