Tilman Fertitta’s Houston Post Oak Hotel Opens

HOUSTON

Businessman, entrepreneur and television personality Tilman J. Fertitta added another notch to his hospitality industry belt with the opening of the Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston.

The luxurious addition to the nation’s fourth-largest city, part of an oak-studded, mixed-use development, boasts a two-level Rolls Royce dealership, a lobby featuring art by American artist Frank Stella, and an adjacent 16,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom and 35,000-square-foot conference facility.

The conference space is said to be the largest that is currently available in the Uptown Houston neighborhood.

Fertitta is the CEO and sole owner of Landry’s, Inc., Golden Nugget Casinos and the Houston Rockets.

“Houston has never had a property like this and I wanted to be the one to deliver it,” Fertitta said. “The Post Oak will stand up to the world’s best hotels. Guests will see the attention to detail we put into every touchpoint and the level of luxury they will not find anywhere else in Houston. It will certainly be a game changer.”

Situated in the decidedly upscale Post Oak Uptown area, the 250-room, 38-story property is located near The Galleria shopping center and within a short drive of downtown Houston.

Each of the guest rooms and VIP suites in The Post Oak Hotel measures over 500 square feet.

Its 5,000-square-foot Presidential Suite offers a wraparound terrace, private elevator, private fitness room and a catering kitchen. The other premium suite offering is the 1,500-square-foot Post Oak Suite. The property also features 22 residential apartment units that can be added to the rental pool.

The luxury components of the property are nothing if not impressive, from an entry experience into its three-story glass lobby highlighted by a grand chandelier inspired by the one in the Dubai Opera House, custom-built in Czechoslovakia and featuring more than 15,000 crystals and 739 Swarovski crystal balls.

Other works of art, strategically drawn from Fertitta’s private collection of American art, include pieces by Robert Motherwell, Alex Katz, Donald Sultan, Joseph Glasco, Friedel Dzubas and Howard Hodgkin.

Guest and group dining options are also awe-inspiring with two of the city’s top restaurants, Mastro’s Steakhouse and Willlie G’s Seafood, adjacent to the hotel. The restaurants offer the opportunity to access some 20,000 wines, and The Cellar at The Post Oak has a 2,000-label, $3 million wine list with rare vintages dating back to the 19th century and led by Master Sommelier Keith Boldston.

Other F&B options range from locally inspired fresh cuisine at the hotel’s primary restaurant, Bloom & Bee, to light bites at H Bar and pub-style fare such as wood-fired pizzas, burgers and craft brews at Craft F&B. Bouchee Patisserie offers freshly baked pastries and specialty coffees with a Parisian twist.

According to the property, it is on track to receive Forbes’ prestigious Five Star rating, the highest offered.
