Historic Harrison’s Chesapeake House completed renovations and rebranded as Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island.
For over a century Harrison’s Chesapeake House, an iconic hotel on Maryland’s Tilghman Island, served as a refuge for politicians, U.S. senators, governors and sports figures from the nation’s capital. Despite its storied past, the once glorious Chesapeake House fell into despair with the 2008 financial downturn.
“As we grow our portfolio of all-season escapes in unexpected destinations, we’re ecstatic to begin our story as a new hotel brand on Tilghman Island,” said John Flannigan, founder and CEO of Wylder Hotels.

The waterfront haven is set on nine acres and features 54 newly-designed guest rooms that channel a relaxed seaside cottage vibe infused with modern comforts and style. Amenities include a new salt water swimming pool, 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space, 25 boat slips and two restaurants helmed by Chef Sean Wheaton, a seven-year alum of José Andrés’ Think Food Group.
The guest rooms boast dark navy wainscoting and warm sisal carpet reinforcing this historic property, surrounded by expansive Oceanside meadows. A clean and handsome palette of golden wood headboards, brass fixtures, and woven rattan lounge chairs, deepen the connection to a sense of place.
Redesigned lush grounds further enhance the property and emphasize the island’s locale as a natural, year-round sanctuary ideal for family vacations, getaways, wanderlust weddings and unique corporate events.
In addition to charter fishing, guests will have access to explore the area on stand-up paddleboards and kayaks or play bocce and other lawn games on the grounds.
