Cvent to Acquire Event App Developer QuickMobile

Hospitality and meetings industry technology giant Cvent is in the process of acquiring mobile event app company QuickMobile.

The acquisition, expected to close by the end of May 2018, will reportedly boost Cvent’s mobile event app capabilities by integrating the 100-person Vancouver, British Columbia-based QuickMobile, which was a pioneer in the meetings and event mobile app technology market segment.

“We are extremely excited to add QuickMobile to the Cvent family,” said Reggie Aggarwal, founder and CEO of Cvent. “QuickMobile’s track record of innovation, strong customer relationships and winning culture fit perfectly with Cvent. We will be laser-focused on continuing to deliver value for QuickMobile customers and look forward to adding the best of QuickMobile’s capabilities and expertise to the Cvent Event Cloud platform.

"We are also thrilled to welcome the talented QuickMobile team to our 3,000-plus Cventers worldwide," Aggarwal added. "Together, we will execute on the mission of delivering cutting-edge [event applications].”

While the QuickMobile acquisition will augment Cvent’s cloud-based mobile event app capabilities, the purchase will also add QuickMobile’s robust customer and partner network to Cvent’s industry-leading effort, which is comprised of more than 25,000 customers, 300,000 users and 3,000 employees worldwide.

Cvent’s mobile event technologies are geared toward enhancing the attendee experience, generating sponsorship opportunities and driving ROI for meetings and events.

“Cvent and QuickMobile are innovators in the mobile event apps space and share a passion for enhancing our customers’ live events through mobile apps that deliver engaging experiences,” said David Smith, CEO of QuickMobile. “We couldn’t envision a better fit for QuickMobile than joining the team at Cvent ... We have a shared commitment to develop employees, drive innovation and deliver exceptional value for our customers.”

According to Cvent, highlights of the combined entity include the following:

  • Serves more than 25,500 customers, including 80% of the Fortune 100.
  • Has delivered 16.7 million app downloads.
  • Is committed to driving innovation in mobile event apps and event technology with nearly 1,100 research and development resources.
  • Offers over 950 product support professionals.

The Tysons Corner, Virginia-based Cvent describes itself as a company offering software solutions to event planners for online event registration, venue selection, event management, mobile apps for events, email marketing and web surveys. The company also provides hoteliers with an integrated platform that enables properties to increase group business demand through targeted advertising and improve conversion.
