Paradise Point Resort & Spa, A Destination Hotel announced the new hire of Michael Stephens as managing director.
In Stephens’ new role as managing director of the newly renovated resort, he will oversee all business operations, while seeking out new ventures for the resort and bringing exceptional guest services. He brings extensive experience in the hospitality industry, holding with various management positions with Hyatt Hotels both domestic and internationally.
“The timing is perfect to welcome Michael to our Paradise Point team as we debut our guestroom renovation alongside fresh programming concepts,” said Lindsey Amador, director of sales and marketing. “He will lead this incredible reimagination through every facet of the resort.”
From his first general manager position at the Hyatt Regency Lexington in Kentucky to general manager at the Grand Hyatt DFW in Dallas-Fort Worth, he further expanded his skillset as general manager of the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale in Arizona, followed by opening general manager of the Andaz Maui at Wailea and of the Grand Hyatt Sao Paulo in Brazil. After an all-encompassing journey with Hyatt Hotels, Stephens joined Two Roads Hospitality as managing director of Lansdowne Resort and Spa in Leesburg, Va.
Throughout his career, he also took on the role of leading and inspiring the surrounding communities from city to city. While in Scottsdale, he served on the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Partner Council for the Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Board for Hospitality and Management Studies at Northern Arizona University and the Arizona State University Hotel & Resort Leadership & Management Board.
Recognized as an exceptional operations manager, Stephens was nominated for Hyatt’s prestigious General Manager of the Year award in 2005, 2009 and 2013. Additionally, he received the General Manager of the Year award in 2009 by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International, Arizona chapter, and General Manager of the Year in Where Magazine’s Silver Plum awards.
