AURORA, Colo.
Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center opened its doors as the largest combined resort and convention center in Colorado. The resort is the fifth Gaylord Hotels property in the U.S., under the Marriott International umbrella. It is located about 10 minutes from Denver International Airport.
The property boasts 1,501 guest rooms, 485,000 square feet of convention center space and an extensive indoor/outdoor water park on a sprawling 85-acre site. Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center is located in Aurora, Colorado, and overlooks Denver’s skyline, framed by the Rocky Mountains.
“Adding a western group destination of this magnitude to Marriott Internationals portfolio allows our organization to leverage existing large conference business demand into the property,” said Mike Stengel, senior vice president of Gaylord Hotels at Marriott International. “This spectacular new-build will also create new demand in the market with meetings customers who have never considered Colorado for their events,”
The resort’s interior design and decor is modeled after aspects iconic to Colorado, including cascading waterfalls over boulders and local nature artwork to native landscaping and even elevators designed to look like old mine shafts, paying tribute to Colorado’s gold rush history.
Convention space includes 85 event rooms with capacity for 10,000 attendees. The Aurora Exhibit Hall offers 174,115 square feet while the Aurora Ballroom is 47,573 square feet and can accommodate over 5,600 people. Outdoor spaces include the 13,000-square-foot Adams Terrace and the 13,400-square-foot Juniper Patio.
