JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa completed its extensive renovation and unveiled a new look. The resort’s transformation included upgrades to all 447 ocean-facing guest rooms and suites. Club 91, located on the 14th floor, was also renovated and the resort’s event technology was upgraded.
“We are excited to introduce JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa’s reimagined look,” said Mitzi Gaskins, vice president & global brand leader of JW Marriott. “Situated on the pristine beaches of the Caribbean, the hotel incorporates elements that reflect the calming vibe of the destination allowing guests to feel at ease and at home in the bright and spacious new guestrooms.”
The interiors of JW Marriott Cancun feature a combination of modern and traditional elements with a vibrant color palette. The hotel is furnished with pieces that were influenced by the culture of the destination and incorporate traditional Mayan designs. This includes authentic Mexican textiles and reclaimed wood accents adorned with carved drawings, paying homage to the cross-stitched embroidery typically found in garments worn by the ancient Yucatan people.
Local artisans created the herringbone-patterned floors using traditional materials, while the JW Marriott Cancun’s redesigned bedrooms and bathrooms feature marbled, aerial-view images indicative of the Mexican cenotes (natural sinkholes).
The 74 redesigned suites incorporate indigenous wood commonly used in the Yucatan Peninsula. Additional renovation highlights include modern, oversized bathrooms with freestanding soaking tubs, rainfall showers, dual sinks and granite vanity tops.

Presidential Suite, Club 91 and ‘150 Margaritas’
JW Marriott Cancun’s 4,000-square-foot Presidential Suite features floor-to-ceiling windows, a kitchen and dining room, and it is complete with oak detailing and ceramic tiles.
The hotel’s exclusive Club 91, located on the 14th floor, evokes a mod-style. The new space also showcases interactive culinary experiences and open communal table concepts.
The JW Marriott Cancun recently debuted a “150 Margaritas” menu at the JW Lobby Bar. A passion project for the team’s expert mixologists and skilled tequila connoisseurs, the menu features 150 margaritas, subdivided into four categories: Classic, Modern, Fusion and Exotic.
The Marriott Cancun Collection
The renovation follows a $25 million room redesign by its sister property and next-door neighbor, the Marriott Cancun Resort.
The two properties make up the Marriott Cancun Collection.
With a combined 897 guest rooms and more than 88,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, the complex is capable of hosting meetings and events for up to 2,000 attendees.
Additionally, the Marriott Cancun Collection unveiled video-mapping technology for special events and wedding receptions, along with four fashion-forward wedding design schemes.
