The Las Vegas Strip will gain a new 45-story, 720-room five-star nongaming hotel in 2023.
Developer Lorenzo Doumani received approval from Clark County commissioners to go ahead with plans for the $850 million Majestic Las Vegas.
Commissioners approved his project plans 6-0.
The six-acre site of the former Clarion Hotel and Casino, which was torn down by Doumani more than four years ago, will boast 10 floors of convention and meeting space, multiple dining outlets and a wellness-focused medical spa. According to Doumani, the wellness spa will offer “executive physicals” where patrons can undertake nutritional and exercise regimens.
The spa will also feature a beauty component, but it will not offer cosmetic procedures.
When Will Majestic Las Vegas Break Ground?
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Doumani expects to break ground on the Majestic Las Vegas in April or May 2020 and finish in the first quarter of 2023.
Doumani, the owner of Majestic Resorts, told commissioners that he wants to build an “intimate” and “classy” five-star hotel that will appeal to Las Vegas for conventiongoers and other patrons who are not focused on gambling.

Doumani bought the Clarion hotel in 2014 and imploded it in early 2015.
He told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that it took a year to secure Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval for the new hotel’s proposed height. Doumani reported that he needed FAA approval before he went in front of the county commission.
North Las Vegas Strip Development
The Majestic Las Vegas proposal follows news of additional changes to the North Strip area.
The former Fontainebleau property is slated to reopen as the Drew Las Vegas in the second quarter of 2022, following an April 2019 delay in construction announcement.
The resort reportedly will feature 3,780 guest rooms and more than 550,000 square feet of convention and meeting space.

The Chinese-themed Resorts World Las Vegas also broke ground in the area in May 2019.
The property will include three hotels with 3,500 guest rooms, over 100,000 square feet of gaming space, and onsite meeting and event space.
In addition, the nearby Las Vegas Convention Center is undergoing an expansion.
