Michael Dominguez, senior vice president and chief sales officer for MGM Resorts International, is leaving the company after seven years.
Dominguez has accepted the position of President and CEO at Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI). He will assume to top slot at ALHI on July 8, 2019, almost seven years to the day he joined MGM Resorts.
"I'm excited to be able to lead an organization with the reputation in the luxury market like ALHI," Dominguez told Meetings Today. "It is an ideal opportunity as I will continue to sell MGM Resorts as well as a collection of the best luxury hotels globally."
He said that in his new position he is excited to still be able to sell MGM Resorts as well as Loews Hotels, which he worked for in the position of vice president of global sales from June 2005 to June 2012 before leaving to join MGM Resorts.
ALHI's portfolio is comprised primarily of independent luxury hotels and resorts and emerging luxury brands, with a focus on meetings and events.
Dominguez said he will also continue to assist MGM Resorts with its Japan licensing bid.
Strong Ties to the Meetings Industry
Dominguez has long been a fixture in the meetings and events industry, having chaired the Board of Directors for MPI and served as its president, co-chaired the Meetings Mean Business Coalition and has served on the executive committee of U.S. Travel Association since 2012, among other top industry posts. He currently is immediate past Chairman of the Board of MPI.
Dominguez also is a fixture in event industry associations such as PCMA, HSMAI and ASAE.
As senior vice president and chief sales officer for MGM Resorts International, Dominguez oversees the global sales of 42,000 hotel rooms, 3 million square feet of meeting space and all sales efforts in both group sales and leisure sales.
